Your cabin in the woods A compilation of cabin plans and philosophy for discovering life in the great out doors
185 pages | PDF | 3 MB When the going gets tough in day-to-day living, Your Cabin in the Woods is my favorite escape literature. In very general terms, Conrad Meinecke can show you how to build your own cabin in the woods, but maybe the most important thing about the book is its buoyant optimism and can-do spirit. A saw, a hammer, a few nails and some canvas and you'll be well on your way independent living in a natural setting. The book's frequent illustrations are filled with smiling guys with pipes in long-sleeved plaid shirts and ties. The shirtsleeves are rolled and the guy is building a fire in his newly constructed fireplace while an Irish Setter romps in the background and the wife and kids prepare food. This book has it all! The breezy effortlessness and style with which Meinecke accomplishes all of this in words and pictures makes H.D. Thoreau look like a preachy, solitary drudge. If you sometimes think of chucking it all and moving back to nature, this is the book for you. I've had this book for years and I keep it handy at all times. Heck, who knows? I might even build a cabin some day. Links : Quote:http://rapidshare.com/files/119140958/www.softarchive.net_Your_Cabin_in_the_Woods.pdf

VizSEC 2007 Proceedings of the Workshop on Visualization for Computer Security
Springer; 1 edition (July 1, 2008) | PDSF(FILE-273) | 5.5mb(rar size) VizSEC 2007 Proceedings of the Workshop on Visualization for Computer Security /by John R. Goodall (Editor), Gregory Conti (Editor), Kwan-Liu Ma (Editor) Description Networked computers are ubiquitous, and are subject to attack, misuse, and abuse. One method to counteracting this cyber threat is to provide security analysts with better tools to discover patterns, detect anomalies, identify correlations, and communicate their findings. Visualization for computer security (VizSec) researchers and developers are doing just that.VizSec is about putting robust information visualization tools into the hands of human analysts to take advantage of the power of the human perceptual and cognitive processes in solving computer security problems. This volume collects the papers presented at the 4th International Workshop on Computer Security - VizSec 2007. Quote: download link: rapidhare or: easy-share all my downloads on softarchive

Mac OS X for Unix Geeks
216 pages | PDF | 24 MB It*s about time: Mac OS X for Unix Geeks arrives on the scene none too soon for UNIX aficionados who, having heard that the latest editions of Mac OS are based on a UNIX variant, want to see how the platform compares to more venerable versions of the eminently configurable operating system. This book highlights some key differences between the Darwin environment and more conventional UNIXs, enabling people with UNIX experience to take advantage of it as they learn the Mac OS X way of doing things at the command line. This skinny volume neither aims to teach its readers UNIX nor introduce them to the Mac, but rather to show how Apple has implemented UNIX. It*s a fast read that assumes*as the title implies*rather a lot of UNIX knowledge. With that requirement satisfied and this book in hand, you*re likely to discover aspects of Aqua more quickly than you otherwise would have. The authors spend lots of time explaining how administrative tasks*such as managing groups, users, and passwords*are handled in the Mac OS environment. They document netinfo fully, and call attention to its limitations (like its inability to create home directories for users) by explaining how to do the job on the command line. They also cover C programming in the Darwin universe at greater length than any other book does, providing explicit instructions for such important tasks as creating header files and linking static libraries. Recent Advances in Evolutionary Computation for Combinatorial Optimization
338 pages | 2008-09-01 | PDF | 6 Mb Combinatorial optimisation is a ubiquitous discipline whose usefulness spans vast applications domains. The intrinsic complexity of most combinatorial optimisation problems makes classical methods unaffordable in many cases. To acquire practical solutions to these problems requires the use of metaheuristic approaches that trade completeness for pragmatic effectiveness. Such approaches are able to provide optimal or quasi-optimal solutions to a plethora of difficult combinatorial optimisation problems. The application of metaheuristics to combinatorial optimisation is an active field in which new theoretical developments, new algorithmic models, and new application areas are continuously emerging. This volume presents recent advances in the area of metaheuristic combinatorial optimisation, with a special focus on evolutionary computation methods. Moreover, it addresses local search methods and hybrid approaches. In this sense, the book includes cutting-edge theoretical, methodological, algorithmic and applied developments in the field, from respected experts and with a sound perspective.
