Contains summary information on many battles both important and obscure, Since I live in Florida its doubtful I will be able to visit any of the battlefields, if I did this volume is an excellent jumping off point to further research especially now with the Internet. Even if I don't it makes great armchair reading. Mr. Chandler uses a rating system judging the importance of the battle and its state of preservation and follows with a narrative of the battle written by himself or 20 other excellent military writers.
